Choosing Your Youth Bow.
This is quite a daunting task to get the correct bow for your son
or daughter starting archery.
Here are a couple of things to consider before even choosing the
bow you want or need.
First off, what kind of archery is he or she going to be doing?
Is it just for fun, to compete in tournaments or hunting?
If he/she is going to be competing in archery tournaments you need
to decide which competitions and class he/she will compete in. As every
competition have their rules for the specific events and classes.
For instance if he/she is going to take part in the National Archery
Schools Program then he/she will need the equipment specified in their rules
and regulations.
Indoor or 3D tournaments have their own rules and regulations and
you’ll need to comply with their rules.
My advice would be to contact your local pro archery shop.
For hunting, you first need to decide what kind of bow you want to
hunt with: recurve, compound or crossbow?
Then what you want to spend? Your maximum budget price and then go
from there.
You can easily find prices on the web or contact your local
archery pro shop for assistance. You might even have to look at 2nd hand bows depending
on your budget, you can often find great deals 2nd hand so don’t be
discouraged just yet.
Most pro shops will gladly check out a 2nd
hand bow for you to make sure it’s in good condition and worth the asking
price.
Just shooting for fun is a no brainer! Decide what kind of bow you
like shooting with. Maybe go try out a few at your local pro archery shop.
Buy what you can afford andgrow from there. Any bow can be
upgraded or accessorised!
